Politics and government
Posted by chele at 2:50 pm in In the news

Now this is a subject that I’m not usually that vocal about because if I start I get down right angry and then I can feel my blood pressure rise.   I’m just so fed up with the presidential election.  They are blowing millions of dollars to travel around the country, shaking hands and kissing butt.  They keep saying the economy is horrible, we have to do something.   Well fine, quit blowing all that money and put it to good use.   Instead of giving people a piddly little rebate check, spread out those campaign millions to low income families.

Here’s what really kills me, they blow all this money giving their little speeches and every intelligent human being should know by now that it’s just smoke.   They are only saying what ever they have to say to get your vote.    Even if they do try to do something, they have to get it past congress.   Not that a really good idea has come along lately besides this tax rebate thing.    That was probably somebody else’s idea because I don’t think Bush has the brain power to come up with it on his own.

I was thinking the other night about what Bush Sr must be feeling about his son.   On the one hand he has to be a little ashamed that his son had to cheat to get elected in the first place, then he got lucky and got elected the second time because there wasn’t a good alternative.    He has to be proud though that his son is at least president, but how does he feel knowing that his son has basically become the laughing stock of the USA?   You can’t already turn on a late night show without hearing some joke about the latest Bush Jr fiasco.

Now for a little rave, Bill Clinton.   Everyone was down on him because of the whole Monica thing.   All that did was prove he was human.   Would the member of congress who hasn’t had an affair please step forward?   lol   Some say it’s because he lied about it.    Are you kidding me?    This time, would the member of the male race who hasn’t lied about an affair please step forward??   LOL

Back to the election, would all television stations please give us a vacation from hearing all the crap??    Just give us a week without having to hear a word about the election.

Jeans, Jeans, Jeans
Posted by chele at 3:13 pm in Fashion

Fads come and Fads go, Styles change, but one thing that has always been around is jeans. We’ve wore them with bell bottoms, we’ve worn them with frayed edges, hip huggers, and high waisted. We’ve worn them stone washed, acid washed, and everything in between. In the 80s we wore them so tight legged you almost needed crisco and a pry bar to get them over your feet. lol

But the way jeans are worn today is nothing but criminal. I’m sure Mr. Strauss and every other jean creator is turning over in their grave. Somebody please explain to me why anyone would want to wear jeans with their crotch down to their knee caps and their underwear showing at the top or a really long shirt on to hide their butts. That was the one really great thing I remember about the 80s. We wore our jeans snug. I can remember spending many many hours looking at some mighty fine works of art framed in nice snug levis.

The other night I was sitting on my front porch enjoying the cool air and this guy walks by, he has on a pair of those long shorts, the crotch down so low his boxers were hanging out the top. My mom was sitting there with me and I said, look at that. His drawers ain’t even that pretty. Well it was about 15 minutes later he came walking back by with a can of pringles, eating. I looked at mom and said so that’s it. The poor feller was so hungry he couldn’t hold his shorts up.

But really people, all joking aside, pull your dang pants up where they belong. You just have no idea how many people are standing behind you dying to grab the sides of your pants/shorts/jeans and jerk them up. Trust me, eventually someone is going to snap and do it. I bet it’s going to be a lot more comfortable if you pull them up yourself.

Mirrors!
Posted by chele at 10:06 pm in Fashion

So today I’m about to enter the local grocery store and there’s this woman standing there.  Best guess she was around 20-25 years old.   She was dressed in shorts that were about a size too small, they were the in fashion hip riders and she wore a very small t-shirt.   Unfortunatly there was about 2 inches between the t-shirt and the shorts and there was a nice hunk of blubber hanging over.   Now don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t the fact that the blubber was there, because trust me, I have a ton of it myself.   It was the fact that it was hanging out.    Every girl, teenage young lady, and woman should have a full length mirror that shows her from head to toe and she should look in the dang thing before she walks out the door and subjects the rest of the world to her faux pas.    I just do not understand it.

Yesterday at wal-mart, this girl walked in front of me and she had on the low rider jeans and a t-shirt.   There was the “love handles” hanging over on both sides.    I’m sorry but if you have “love handles”, stay away from low riding jeans.   It is not a good look, I don’t care if they are in style, it’s disgusting.

Another thing that is not pretty, is wearing shorts that leave your hind end hanging out.    Leave something to the imagination of men.   There is no need to lay it all out on display for them.    Also, shorts/pants with stuff wrote across your butt.   Sorry but it actually just makes your butt look broader.   You may think it looks cute or sexy or whatever, but its not.   I’ve actually asked my brother and a few of my male cousins about it and they actually said they think it looks dumb and in most cases the wearer just looks cheap.

So go out and get a full length mirror and actually use it!

How did I survive??
Posted by chele at 2:59 pm in In the news, Uncategorized

I watch the news these days and I can’t help but ask myself…How in the hell did I survive childhood???    They have all these fancy new gadgets out now that mothers just can not raise their children without.    Geez, my mom  used to shove me out the door in the morning to play with the neighbor kids and didn’t give a second thought to looking out back while we made and ate mud pies.   She didn’t have baby monitors, fancy wipes, fancy diapers, motion detectors, toilet locks, cabinet locks, etc but somehow I survived.

I happen to catch on the news this morning two women talking about keeping your child safe.   That accidents to children in the home happen more then we think.   So I stop to listen and this woman is on there talking about how her child fell out of a window and fell 30 feet.   They said the child was lucky because she fell out, hit the copper roof, then hit the ground landing on her diaper.   Her diaper, which means we’re talking a small child, what under 3 years old?    Not only was the mother at home but so was an au pair, so somebody tell me how this child pushed the screen out of the window and fell out of it with not just her mother in the house but a hired nanny.   Plus you have to ask yourself how did the child get up high enough?   They didn’t cover that part of it.

This may really make young mothers out there mad, but I don’t care, somebody needs to say it.   If your going to have children then you need to be there to take care of them.   Give up the mighty career and be a mom.   I know a lot of  you are saying or thinking, but we can’t live on what my husband makes.   I’ve heard that line before (and I’ll be posting a rant on that shortly).    Just cut back (learn more when you read my “How did this happen post).

Also, look for my post on today’s teenagers.   :)
