I have always been a lover of mac and cheese. Kraft mac and cheese was a huge favorite right after homemade mac and cheese. So when I seen the ads for the new Kraft Macaroni and Cheese crackers and I was excited! The taste of mac and cheese in a cracker. Woohooo!! So I’m at Wal-Mart yesterday and I finally see them and I grab a box. I get my box out last night while watching tv and guess what? It’s nothing but flat macaroni shaped Cheez-its. Now how disappointing is that? Just another Cheez-it. So thank you Kraft for inventing and providing us with something we basically already had.
A while back Imus caused a huge stink over a comment he made. The Rev Al Sharpton jumped in with both feet and had a fit. He was on every tv station basically screaming for Imus’ head. Basically I think every african-american was having a fit. Today I see in a small news piece on AT&T’s start page that Jesse Jackson “is reported to have said Obama was “talking down to black people,” and referred to blacks with the N-word when he said Obama was telling them “how to behave.” My first thought was great, gonna turn on the tv and that’s all we’ll see today. Then I finished reading the article and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I seen this: The Rev. Al Sharpton, who has joined Jackson in opposition of the word, said Wednesday he wanted to hear the comments for himself and declined to discuss Jackson specifically.
He has declined to discuss Jackson? Why isn’t he having a fit? Why isn’t this the huge focus on tv this morning?
In a way I think this is much worse then the Imus thing. Imus is a white guy who made a stupid racial slur. Jesse jackson is an african american who made a very bad remark about other african americans. Am I the only who feels that’s worse?
I was standing in line today at the grocery store and the lady in front of me and the cashier was talking about education. They were talking about how it’s just not the same as it used to be and I had to agree. My niece was talking about her classes last year and I couldn’t believe it. One of her classes they used computers to create music. Sounds fun, but just how useful is that? She can create her own music but she didn’t know how to take a potato and make mashed potato. She can’t tell time unless it’s a digital watch, but like she said she doesn’t need to know, her cell phone has the time.
The lady in front of me said her 15 year old niece could not write her own name in cursive until she sat her down and showed her how. I remember learning cursive in second grade.
In math we weren’t allowed calculators. We had to use paper and work it out to prove we knew how. It seems like since we have become so dependent on computers we’ve forgotten to teach our children the basics of life. I bet you that 8 out of 10 teenagers in high school today would not be able to feed themselves if it wasn’t for fast food or prepackaged items they can throw in the microwave. Then again, I bet you that 8 out of 10 parents with children are in the same boat. This is starting to branch out into so many different rants that I’m having to stop myself. Don’t worry though, I will take these branches and do more posts before I’m done. lol
The bottom line, we need to put education back in the schools. Go back to the basics and make sure the kids today are actually ready to function when they graduate.
You know everyone keeps saying the economy is sooo bad, that everyone is suffering, ain’t no money, right? So I’m watching the news the other night (I find that watching the news is a good source for things that irritate the hell out of me. lol) They are talking about a new study, so I was like oh a medical breakthrough, a development in curing cancer or aids or autism or something huge, right? They come back from commercial to tell me that whoever does studies, did a study on the affects on a mother’s mood upon seeing pictures of her babies smiling face. My eyes popped out of my head and my jaw hit the floor as I did my are you stupid move and said well DUH. Don’t take no fricking genious to figure that one out. In case there is anybody out there dumber then a 10 pound bag of stupid, the study showed that a mother’s mood did actually improve when shown pictures of her baby smiling, but there was little to no affect when shown other baby pictures.
Who approves these studies? Was there not a better use for that grant money?
