Recently I was helping a friend with their taxes and because of the tax changes last year, her husband didn’t pay in enough taxes so he owes the IRS. She was understandably upset and immediately blamed Obama. I told her he had changed it so that working families would have more money each week to try to help them out. So many people these days want to blame someone else for everything happens, especially the president. The Republicans are blaming Obama for the mess right now. They don’t want to blame Bush who made a complete and utter mockery of the presidency. Maybe I missed something, but I thought Clinton left us in pretty good shape. Then Bush came along and everything went to hell in a huge handbasket.
Now Obama comes along and he’s trying to help the situation. Do I blame Obama for the tax things? Nope. Last year I noticed on my paycheck that my federal tax withheld seemed too low. I asked a couple of coworkers and they said yeah there’s was too low too, but nobody seemed to know why and no one had done anything. I went looking for answers and found them. Everyone should have gotten a W-4 from their employers, sat down and figured out how much tax needed to be withheld so they wouldn’t owe any taxes this year. Fairly simple to fix I thought.
So who’s fault is it? Is it Obama’s fault for trying to help working families out with a little extra money each week or is the people’s fault for not doing anything? I say it’s the people’s fault. It was all over the news that the tax changes were happening. Everyone should have taken a minute or two to check to see if enough was being withheld.
It’s time to stop passing the blame and take responsibility.
Sorry for the lack of posts. I brought my mom home. She now has a huge infected bedsore that encompasses most of her backside. She didn’t eat right while in the hospital, can’t say I blame her since a starving dog wouldn’t eat what they serve. I just flat out told the doctor I’m taking her home. Of course we had to go into hospice since I couldn’t take care of her completely by myself. I’ve checked right and left and hospice is the only option in this whole area that takes medicare/medicaid and provides the services that hospice does. It’s really sad that you have to give up and die to get help.
I also received more bad news. My cousin Charlene who stuck by me the whole time mom was in the hospital and who said she would pack a bag and come stay with me to help out, is in the hospital herself now. She’s been having bad headaches for a month and the medical doctor said it was sinus. Well a ct scan Sunday showed 3 small spots of cancer. She called the cancer doctor and he put her in the hospital. She actually has lung cancer that spread to her brain.
I’m telling you right here, right now. We had better step up and do something before it’s too late for everybody. I’ve been doing research on cancer and I’ve talked to different people, and the consensus is it’s the preservatives in our food and the crap they spray on the crops these days that is killing us. It’s going to get to the point where cancer is as common as a damn cold, too bad you can’t lay in bed for a week and get over cancer.
I found a website yesterday that gave a break down of where all that money is going. I’m almost speechless. It’s the biggest joke I think I’ve ever seen in my life. I am a firm supporter of Obama and I really thought he was going to do something good with this stimulus, but it’s a huge waste of money and time.
If I understood it correctly, the tax break for working people is going to actually gain them only about $7.70 a week. What is that? They can barely buy toilet paper with that. There was another section listed under Poverty. He’s planning to help eliminate poverty. I was like it’s about time! Then I read on, he’s going to give people who draw supplemental security income a one time check for $250.00. How is that going to help?
This stimulus plan reads more like it’s for the fat cats. Big businesses who obviously don’t know how to handle money. Instead of giving money to businesses, give it to us so we can spend it. That works two-fold. The businesses would generate revenue and we the consumers would get things we actually need.
I’ve read in other places that the proposed breakdown of funds doesn’t quite cover it, so maybe there’s more to be done with it. But this break down was highly disappointing.
Oh boy, here we go again. Al Sharpton is on the warpath over the cartoon in the New York Post. I seen the cartoon on the news this morning and I guess it’s how you look at it. Yes, technically Obama wrote the stimulus package, so if you think of it that way, it could be seen as saying that Obama is a chimp, but if you realize that after Obama wrote it, it went to Congress and congress put their fingers all over it, then it went back to Obama and back and forth. It’s really kind of up in the air now, who wrote the current stimulus. When I seen the cartoon, I immediately thought of Congress, not Obama. I’m sorry but Congress does remind me of a pack of chimps. Dangle a banana in front of a member of congress and they will do what’s demanded to get it, just like a chimp. If a member of congress doesn’t get his/her way, they have a fit and start going ape.
I think the cartoon is kind of funny and when you think of it as directed at congress, it makes sense. I also agree with the New York Post when they said Al Sharpton is just a publicity opportunist.
I also feel that when people make a big deal out of this type of thing, it just makes it worse. Like on Jay Leno one night, Jay told a joke that was basically directed at white people and Kevin who is African American, made the comment that there was no way he could have told that joke. Jay in turn said that’s okay, there’s jokes you can tell that I can’t. Why is it okay for an African American to make a derogatory joke about African Americans? If Al Sharpton is going to jump up and scream when a white person makes a derogatory joke, he needs to start jumping up when it’s an African American doing it too.
Now go back to the cartoon in the New York Post and look at it as if it was directed at the machinations of congress and how things work there. I also think if we ever want true equality here, we need to start looking at jokes for what they are, jokes.
